Our first Self-care and Wellness Zoom was a huge success today. We heard presentations from three business women and had great discussion afterward.
Stress, burnout, and feeling exhausted are issues we all deal with. The pandemic has made everything even more challenging. April Yu, Jia Li, and I were discussing this and the need for more self-care to manage it all.
We started talking about the added stress of being a small business owner at this time and started talking about how we might help businesses and individuals. That’s when we decided to start hosting free Zoom events to connect businesses with individuals for support and discussion.
What is a Self-care and Wellness Zoom?
For clarification, I’ll start with what it isn’t. These events are not medical advice and are not meant to help with treatment or diagnosis.
If it’s not medical information, then what is it?
“Self-care” means taking some time for yourself every day. It’s doing something that gives you joy or makes you feel good. That can mean anything from meditating to making art. It can be eating a more healthy diet, making your spaces more calming, exercising or exploring spirituality and philosophy. It’s doing something for yourself that makes you feel special and loved. Sometimes it really is as simple as spoiling yourself with some bath bombs. It doesn’t have to be complicated.
The goal of our Self-care and Wellness Zoom events is to help people find ways to re-energize, find support, and connect with woman-owned businesses that can help in that journey.
Speakers and what I learned
Our first Zoom event had three presenters; Patience Hemenway, Jia Li, and April Yu.
Patience Hemenway

Patience Hemenway is an International Bestselling Author, International Certified Corporate Trainer, Master Serenity Coach at Patience Serenity Grove International. She helps leaders and professional women who are dealing with stress, anxiety, low self-esteem, and fear to reach their place of serenity emotionally, mentally and spiritually through Personal BreathWork Mastery Training.
Patience taught us about breathing exercises and being grateful to our bodies. Visit her site to learn more about her work and hire her to help you.
April Yu

April Yu is a NutraMetrix Consultant & Naturopathic Wellness Coach. She taught us about healthy natural supplements and how getting the right ones is vital to overall health (pill form supplements are not your friends).
Jia Li

Jia Li owns Tea Tell Truth. She teaches Tea Mindfullness, a guided meditation and self-care workshop. Her workshops encourage self-reflection, teach mindfulness-based stress management strategies, and promote engaging in self-care based on tea. In addition, Jia sells premium teas and tea ware so people can make what they learn part of their daily routine.
Jia showed us a tea ceremony and shared her philosophy and knowledge.
In conclusion, All three brought amazing positive energy to the group and messages of healing and love. As a result, participants had a very open, honest discussion about how the pandemic is affecting their lives.
It was a healing and supportive experience so we’ve decided to organize more of them.
Watch for my posts. You are invited.
